Saya tidak ingin membahas mengenai ucapan Yesus tersebut, namun dengan sedikit mengubah urutan kata-kata, kita dapat menemukan sesuatu yang menarik.
Bukan seeing is believing, namun believe and you will see. Inilah kekuatan sugesti. Banyak percobaan yang sudah dilakukan untuk membuktikan kebenaran efek placebo atau kekuatan sugesti. Dimana orang yang menderita penyakit tertentu kemudian diberi obat yang sebenarnya hanyalah kumpulan tepung atau gula saja. Namun karena kondisi tertentu dan kepercayaan bahwa apa yang dia minum adalah benar obat mujarab, maka sembuhlah dia. Tentu bukan obat "palsu" itu yang menyembuhkan, namun kepercayaannya sendiri yang mensugesti dirinya sehingga sembuh.

Kekuatan sugesti ini bak pedang bermata dua. Bila digunakan dengan baik dan benar oleh orang-orang yang bertanggungjawab, maka akan mampu mempengaruhi orang lain untuk menjadi baik juga. Namun demikian, bila disalahgunakan secara negatif, maka orang akan bergerak secara negatif juga. Oleh karenanya banyak orang bijak selalu menasehatkan agar kita selalu berpikir positif.
Tujuannya tentu saja agar kita selalu dan terus-menerus mensugesti diri kita SECARA POSITIF sehingga kita bergerak dan berperilaku secara positif.
